About Us

Our Values

Campaign is based on the premise that a values change must occur among humanity, in order to preserve our species and our planet and achieve sustainable development.

“The real crisis we are facing is not an environmental crisis, a population crisis, an economic crisis, a social crisis, or a political crisis. It is, at its root, a crisis of consciousness.”

Peter Russell;
from his article Who’s Kidding Whom?  1

We accept the challenge of  Boutros Boutos,  Secretary-General of  the United Nations, who encouraged us with these words, “that we test the capacity of the human societies to set aside their differences and work together to replace competition and hegemony with cooperation and partnership as the driving forces of a new system of international relations.” 2

History of Campaign for the Earth

Campaign for the Earth was founded in 1989 with the support of such luminaries as Claus Nobel, Robert Muller, Phil Lane, Dennis Weaver, Brian O’Leary, Barbara Marx Hubbard, Gary Zukov, and Rashmi Mayur, with the goal of bringing attention to the urgent need for collective effort and cooperative action for the healing of ourselves and planet Earth.

A series of international conferences were open to all who share this concern, which focused on enabling individuals to take action in whatever way they were so inspired, and to network with others to achieve best results. CFTE received U.N. accreditation in 1992 and this led to participation in the U.N. Conference Series of the 1990s as well as representation to the World Bank Conference on Ethics and Spirituality (1995), the World Conference on Civil Society (1999) and the Millennium NGO Forum of (2000).

During the 1990s collaboration and networking became much advanced throughout the NGO sector and there are now NGOs solely dedicated to these processes. Consequently,  CFTE now focuses on encouraging concerned individuals to become involved in seeking solutions to the world’s problems.
